Supported Versions

Only the latest published release receives security fixes. Older versions are not patched. If you found a vulnerability in an older version, please still report it and include the tested version or commit.

Reporting a Vulnerability

Do not open a public GitHub issue for security vulnerabilities.

Use one of the following channels for responsible disclosure:

  1. GitHub private advisory (preferred) Open a private security advisory directly in this repository. GitHub keeps the report confidential until a fix is published.

  2. E-mail Send details to security@workoho.com. If you need to encrypt a sensitive report, ask for a current PGP key first.

What to include

Provide enough detail to reproduce and assess the issue:

  • A description of the vulnerability and its potential impact
  • The affected component (SPFx web part, Azure Function, Bicep template, or scripts)
  • Steps to reproduce, or a minimal proof-of-concept
  • The version or git commit you tested against
  • Any suggested mitigations you have already identified

What to Expect

This is a volunteer-maintained open-source project. There are no paid staff or commercial support agreements. Response times are therefore best effort and cannot be guaranteed.

There is no bug bounty programme. We do not offer monetary or any other compensation for vulnerability reports.

We will make reasonable efforts to:

  • Acknowledge the report once we have had a chance to review it
  • Assess the severity and scope of the issue
  • Publish a fix or mitigation as time permits, prioritising higher-severity issues

Severity is assessed using CVSS v4.0. Critical and high-severity issues will be given priority over lower-severity ones, but no specific timelines are promised.

You will be notified when a fix is available and may be credited in the release notes unless you prefer to remain anonymous.

Organizations that need guided rollout, prioritized operational help, or commercial support should use the contact path described on the public Support page. That route is for setup and service discussions, not for confidential vulnerability disclosure.

Scope

The following areas are in scope:

  • Guest Sponsor API (azure-function/src/) — authentication bypass, privilege escalation, data leakage beyond the calling guest's own sponsors
  • SPFx web part (src/) — XSS via unsanitised data, credential exposure in the bundle, or insecure communication patterns
  • Azure infrastructure (azure-function/infra/) — overly permissive role assignments or Bicep templates that deploy insecure defaults
  • Setup scripts (scripts/, azure-function/infra/hooks/) — code execution or secrets exposure during deployment

The following are out of scope:

  • Vulnerabilities in Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, or Microsoft Entra ID itself — report those to Microsoft MSRC
  • Missing HTTP security headers served by SharePoint Online or the Azure platform — these are outside this project's control
  • Broad network-layer DDoS protection, WAF policy, or upstream throttling in Azure or SharePoint — these are outside this project's control. In production, unauthenticated requests are rejected by EasyAuth before they reach function code, and the Function also implements lightweight in-process throttling for anonymous and incident-response scenarios
  • Social engineering attacks against tenant administrators
  • npm audit findings in transitive SPFx build-rig dependencies that cannot be upgraded without breaking the build (see README.md for context)

Security Architecture

For a description of the security model, trust boundaries, and residual risks, see docs/security-assessment.md.

The high-level data-flow and authentication chain are documented in docs/architecture.md.

Current Assurance Materials

For enterprise review and internal approval workflows, the following materials are maintained publicly in this repository today:

Together, these materials document the current architecture, security controls, deployment assumptions, and disclosure process in a reviewable form.

Current Support Model

The open-source distribution is maintained on a best-effort basis through the public repository and the disclosure channels above.

Current deployment, customization, and operations support options are described on the public Support page. That does not change the requirement to report security vulnerabilities through the private advisory or security e-mail path.

Privacy
