Project Abstract

W3CP Core delivers a Polkadot-anchored device identity verification layer for real-world EV charging and energy infrastructure. It enables physical devices (e.g. charge points) to establish verified backend connections without pre-registration or static allowlists, by proving ownership of an on-chain decentralized identity.

The project provides an open-source reference identity sidecar and verification flow that relies on deterministic on-chain state queries rather than event indexing, making decentralized identity practical for long-lived physical infrastructure. The work focuses exclusively on the Polkadot identity integration layer and is designed to be reused across IoT, DePIN, and energy systems.

Grant level

  • Level 1: Up to $10,000, 2 approvals
  • Level 2: Up to $30,000, 3 approvals
  • Level 3: Unlimited, 5 approvals (for >$100k: Web3 Foundation Council approval)

Hi @web3-energy. Thank you for the application and the effort you have put into it! However, the Web3 Foundation has decided to shut down the Grants Program. Therefore, we are not accepting any new applications.

I hope you will find another way to fund this project. In any case, best of luck!
