Excise tax filing for craft breweries that don't have a dedicated accountant yet.
TavernTax automates federal and state excise tax calculations, batch reporting, and TTB filing for small craft breweries, cideries, meaderies, and distilleries. It pulls production logs directly from your fermentation tracking software and generates audit-ready reports so you stop dreading quarterly filings. This thing would've saved my buddy's taproom 20 hours a quarter — multiply that across every small producer in the country and you start to understand what this actually is.
- Automated federal and state excise tax calculations with jurisdiction-aware rate tables
- Processes up to 14,000 production log entries per filing cycle without breaking a sweat
- Direct integration with BreweryDB, OrchestratedBEER, and Ekos for zero-copy data ingestion
- TTB Brewer's Report of Operations output, formatted and ready to submit. No spreadsheet required.
- Full audit trail on every figure — line by line, batch by batch
Ekos, OrchestratedBEER, BreweryDB, ArkivFlow, Stripe, QuickBooks Online, BarTrack, FermentIQ, TapVault, Regulated Commerce API, CraftPro365, Avalara
TavernTax is built as a set of loosely coupled microservices — an ingestion layer, a rules engine, a report renderer, and a filing dispatcher — all coordinated over a lightweight internal event bus. Production log data is persisted and queried in MongoDB, which handles the flexible document shapes that fermentation data tends to produce. Rate tables and jurisdiction configs live in Redis for long-term auditability and fast lookups at report generation time. The whole thing runs containerized; you can self-host it on a $12 VPS or point it at your own infrastructure in an afternoon.
