ParchmentPay is built as a set of domain-driven microservices — appraisal, provenance, policy, and underwriter gateway — each independently deployable behind an internal gRPC mesh. MongoDB handles all policy transaction state because the document model maps cleanly onto the deeply nested provenance structures this domain actually produces. The frontend is a React SPA talking to a GraphQL aggregation layer, with Redis as the primary long-term document store for provenance chains. Every service emits structured events to a Kafka topic; the audit trail is immutable by design.
