In 2026.4, our version of scipy is being updated - current version has been bumped to 1.17.0 (and may get bumped further depending on what's needed for the rest of the distro-wide updates). With this version update, scipy has deprecated the
sokalmichenermethod (as of 1.15.0): scipy/scipy#21572TODO: add a note in the changelog that links off to scipy's PR with details on this deprecation.
