What does this PR do?

• Letting Node.js >=22 execute TypeScript directly, changed TypeScript settings to accommodate this, had to change all imports to .ts
• There's no longer need for building while developing
• No longer need for separate version file within source files, as they import the package JSON file to get the version
• ESM only bundles and exports, Node.js version restriction

TODO: Adjust documentation too (check for other changes to make from main package)
