There's no current category for language-learning and translation Chrome extensions. Proposing a new "Language & Translation" section with two open-source entries taking complementary approaches:

  • Mirlo - Replaces words on web pages with translations in the language you're learning; runs on-device using Chrome's Translator API. No accounts, no tracking.
  • Read Frog - Immersive translation extension with bilingual side-by-side display and vocabulary tools. Open source.

They take different approaches (word-level on-device replacement vs. full-page cloud-AI bilingual rendering) so they complement each other. I built Mirlo; Read Frog is an independent project with ~7K stars.

Both fit the list — Mirlo's on-device architecture aligns with the privacy-respecting tools elsewhere here. Happy to rename the category, drop into General instead, or split into two PRs if you'd prefer.

Thanks for maintaining the list.
