I don't really know Apache, so someone else will have to look at this one 😉

If cache invalidation is done properly, we should choose a higher value, e.g. 3 months.

If cache invalidation does not work properly, then 1 day of caching is already too much of a hassle.

I'll try to have a look at the config another day if possible :)

I'd say this needs to be reviewed by webmaster.

To me it does not look like the Apache module sets those headers conditionally. The question is whether Apache handles stuff like if-changed-since or etag.
