A RimWorld mod that adds events where war-torn settlements beg you to take in their orphaned children.
Requires RimWorld 1.5/1.6 and Biotech DLC.
1-7 children from a non-hostile faction's settlement, fleeing war. Mixed xenotypes matching the faction's distribution. Sibling families with shared dead parents.
All children share the same non-Baseliner xenotype — they're being hunted for what they are. Rarer variant with different narrative.
A single child, the only one left alive. Max trauma, severe malnutrition, multiple injuries, 40% chance of a missing body part. Bonus survival skills. 20% chance of a retribution raid days later.
- War trauma — scales with age, fades over ~100 days. Affects mood, mental breaks, learning, sleep, social behavior
- Recovery milestones — positive thoughts and letters as trauma heals: "the nightmares are less frequent", "starting to feel safe", "this place is home"
- Dead parents visible in social tab
- Malnutrition, cuts, tattered/tainted clothes
- Small chance of missing body part (older children)
- "Escaped war together" — permanent +25 opinion between orphans
- Mutual gratitude — orphans and colonists get positive social thoughts toward each other
- Charity events with accept/reject letter (not quest tab)
- Population-aware, not threat-gated
- +15 faction goodwill on accept
- Ideology charity integration
