This release is to welcome Amsterdam University Medical Centers to the Pilot project Open Ricgraph demo server. Now both the research information from Amsterdam University Medical Centers and from Delft University of Technology is in this demo server. Try it out for yourself to find out what you can discover at explorer.ricgraph.eu! Your organization can also participate, please read Participate in the pilot project.
The following improvements have been made to Ricgraph.
Ricgraph general:
- Research information from Amsterdam University Medical Centers has been added to the Pilot project Open Ricgraph demo server.
- A more consistent naming of identifiers.
- From now on, you can use organization abbreviations of max. length 4.
- Many improvements and code rewrites.
- Various security updates for Ricgraph, Ricgraph Explorer, Gunicorn, and Apache/Nginx.
Ricgraph Explorer:
- Now it is possible to explore collaborations in Ricgraph Explorer (up until now you needed a batch script to accomplish this). Read the preprint: Rik D.T. Janssen (2025). Utilizing Ricgraph to gain insights into research collaborations across institutions, at every organizational level. [preprint]. https://doi.org/10.2139/ssrn.5524439. You can find the button on the home page.
- Restructured Observable Plot and Observable D3 libraries: now include them only on the pages where they are needed.
Harvest scripts:
- The Pure harvest script now also harvests data sets (from the Pure 'datasets' endpoint), and press/media items. Some organizations also have software in the 'datasets' endpoint, if so, these will also be harvested.
- The harvest scripts for Pure, OpenAlex, Research Software Directory, Yoda, and UU staff pages have been thoroughly rewritten. Now they are more modular and it is easier to extend them.
- For the Pure and OpenAlex harvest scripts, there are additional command line arguments --year_first and --year_last, to indicate the first and last year of the harvest.
- During the harvest process, there is more information about how long it has taken.
Documentation:
- Various updates to www.ricgraph.eu and docs.ricgraph.eu.
- Added two student projects, one from UU Computer science and one from HU HBO-ICT. For all student projects, read Ricgraph projects with students.
- Added a presentation.
Upgrading:
- Save your ricgraph.ini file. Remove all of your existing files and directories, then re-install Ricgraph. Create a new version of ricgraph.ini, based on your old version and the file ricgraph.ini-sample.
- You will need to reharvest your sources.
