OBP Publishing workflow overview

The standard production workflow at Open Book Publishers is summarised in the graph below. OBP workflow The vast majority of authors to date have approached OBP with a manuscript already composed in Microsoft Word.

Editing, as well as a first rough styling of the text, is carried out in MS Word and the text is then transferred into InDesign where it is typeset, paginated and corrected further.

The InDesign files constitute the publication’s master copy, from which both printed and digital outputs are currently produced.

The conversion to XML occurs the very end and takes the epub as its input.
