In Swahili, Haki means justice, fairness, and rights—demanded and defended. Fedha means money or finance—the resource most used to grant freedom and most used to take it away.
HakiFedha is a multilingual Bitcoin & Privacy knowledge hub built for the people power tries to silence: activists, journalists, human rights defenders, whistleblowers, community leader, researchers, and educators across Africa.
Across Africa, the tools of repression are financial as much as physical. When financial systems can be switched off or weaponized, the people who suffer most are those already fighting to be seen.
We provide practical, plain-language guidance on Bitcoin, privacy tools, and decentralized technologies as tools of resistance and resilience.
- Practical Guides: Self-custody for Bitcoin without third-party reliance
- Tool Recommendations: Verified privacy and security resources
- Case Studies: Real-world examples of financial resilience
- Templates & Policies: Governance tools for organizations using digital assets
BitMentor is a volunteer network of experienced Bitcoiners who support civil society organisations, journalists, activists, and community groups in Africa.
It connects people who need guidance with those who have practical experience using Bitcoin and privacy tools in real-world conditions.
Mentors may help with:
- Bitcoin fundamentals and safe usage
- Self-custody and wallet setup
- Backup and recovery practices
- Privacy and operational security basics
- Receiving and managing Bitcoin donations
- Safe, real-world use of open financial tools
The goal is simple: knowledge shared responsibly so civil society can operate more safely and independently.
Faragha (Swahili for privacy) is a non-human guidance layer designed to help users navigate Bitcoin, privacy, and security resources.
It acts as a first-response assistant that helps users:
- Understand concepts in simple language
- Find relevant guides and tools in the hub
- Follow safe, step-by-step learning paths
- Avoid common mistakes in self-custody and privacy practices
- Get oriented before engaging with human mentors
Faragha does not replace human support. Instead, it reduces confusion and helps people reach the right information or the right people faster.
- Financial Autonomy: Bitcoin changes the equation; money no one can freeze.
- Privacy as a Shield: Surveillance is a weapon; privacy protects the person holding it.
- Human + Tool Collaboration: Technology supports, but does not replace, human knowledge.
- Inclusive Design: Built for low-bandwidth and real-world constraints.
- Accessible Education: If it requires a computer science degree, we’ve failed.
This is a living resource. Currently available in English, with Swahili coming next and more African languages to follow.
We welcome contributions, feedback, and translations—this work belongs to everyone it protects.
