For this sort of thing, you can also configure your fork to run actions, so you can run CI without needing to make a PR to the main repo. |

Not yet ready for review - in the middle of adding tests and catching corner cases. I'm only adding a PR because it's the quickest way to run the tests on WIndows, there's currently a known failure, but what I want to see is that testHardLinks passes on Windows.
