Release notes

r3dfox 149 removes potentially useless changes for native controls. I haven't been able to find any case where r3dfox 148 has a native control item where 149 does not. Let me know if you notice a regression here where something that should be native appears non-native in the new release. Potentially related to this are also two bugs from upstream that I haven't gotten around to looking into yet. Some non-native dropdown boxes have the native dropdown tick as well as the non-native one, also part of this, native dropdown ticks also look incorrect and aren't the full size they're supposed to be. The second bug is some menu ticks and dots do not show but others are fine..

The portable builds are fully portable, the profile directory is inside the browser folder. It does not touch appdata at all.

Requirements to use the browser on a given OS:
Vista: Service Pack 2 + KB971644 Platform Update
7 RTM/SP0 and later: Should just work.

Notable bugs:
The 32 bit build is built with --disable-sandbox. With the sandbox enabled under Vista, the browser fails to open multiple processes which breaks the browser. The 64 bit build is fine. Considering Mypal68 globally disables the sandbox, I don't think it's that bad. If this really is a big issue then please pr a fix.

Cairo/GDI backend ignores system cleartype settings and causes crashes on older versions of Windows and crashes without e10s.

New r3dfox specific changes in this build:
Added Windows 10 to OS manifest so the browser now sees Windows 10 as Windows 10 instead of 8.1. This does mean you have the modern style by default on 10, but the Windows version theme override can be used for Aero style theming. (This does mean Windows 10 features will be enabled and this may be broken in some places. On Windows 10 I've had to block VMware hardware acceleration because it breaks there, the browser never starts up with it enabled.)
Updated Librewolf changes and formatted them better. This should make keeping up to date much easier.
This also means translations work again and are enabled by default again. No idea how long this will last though.
Massively improved branding. This is mostly under the hood. Some notable changes are the left ear on the logo now has a shadow, and improved shadowing and other elements for the icon. ESR icon is much improved and this will be seen in 140.9. Tab View and urlbar separators are no longer enabled by default. New installer banners and such. r3dfox about window retains the wallpaper, although I want to change it for something else, r3dfox ESR will use the old gradient for the about window.
Maybe more that I forgot. I did a bunch of commit squashing to make the tree look cleaner, however I base these release notes off of the commit history. So I might have made a change I forgot about. (I had almost published this forgetting to add the Windows 10 manifest and VMware hardware accel change note.)

149 beta changes:
Stripped down and removed old, presumed unnecessary changes. If this brings back old bugs, let me know. Notable points of test would be native controls appearing in the wrong place or not showing where they should, potential issues on Vista with the sandbox and crashing, and the installer maybe having issues.
Disabled some new UI elements, reverted to old default browser text.

Haven't tested on XP (OCAPI) nor have I extensively stability tested.

Please let me know what bugs or issues you encounter with it.

Release notes

This release is marked as beta as I intend to redo the branch and the way the Librewolf changes are implemented. There are also other changes I wanted to make, but I was too tired yesterday and set this to build so I can have a beta release today.

A few other reasons it's a beta release include removing potentially useless reverts for native controls. I haven't been able to find any case where r3dfox 148 has a native control item where 149 does not. Let me know if you notice a regression here where something that should be native appears non-native in the new release.

There are also two bugs from upstream that I haven't gotten around to looking into yet. Some non-native dropdown boxes have the native dropdown tick as well as the non-native one, and menu ticks and dots do not show.

That is all I think for this release. A non-beta 149 will be coming soon.

r3dfox specific changes on top of the previous v147.0.1-1 build:
Disabled Spectre mitigations by default for more performance. Even Mozilla themselves disabled one of them, "This mitigation has only theoretical value and a very real performance cost." https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1877605
Added new settings for enabling/disabling geolocation, urlbar formatting, and more.
Corrected switch to tab setting information. Apparently it works as intended.

r3dfox ESR v140.7.1esr for Vista+

18 Feb 04:33

There's no r3dfox specific changes in this build, those will come after I finish 147.0.4 and port them over to 140.8.0. I've released this since a supposedly big vulnerability has been found and point releases for ESR versions have been made, and rather than wait for 140.8.0 to release or work on the pre-release build I'd rather just release this for now.

After I release 147.0.4, I'm probably going to work on porting ESR 115/140 security patches to ESR 128, probably until ESR 140 support is dropped if it goes well.
