Steam causes screen\system to freeze for 2-3 seconds when hovering drop down menus

Describe the bug

When the Steam app is opened and I move the mouse cursor over the drop down menus at the top left of the screen (Steam \ View \ Friends \ Games or the Store \ Library \ Community options) it freezes the whole system for 2- 3 seconds. This will continually repeat itself until Steam is closed fully and re-launched, however, once I reboot the computer, the problem will occur again until I close Steam manually and open it back up again. This is a full system freeze for a few seconds, I've tried running a youtube video in the background just to see if it was a mouse cursor freeze or a system freeze, and the video did in fact freeze when hovering the mouse over the menu options.

I've tried disabling GPU accelleration in Steam and also have tried to disable the option in Interface options labelled as "Scale text and icons to match monitor settings" and neither of these changes make a difference.

UPDATE: I don’t know for sure if this has anything to do with it but the issue had not occurred for a few days, then earlier today I booted into windows temporarily, then back into bazzite and immediately Steam would freeze for a few seconds over and over until I closed and restarted steam. Also to add to this theory, my computer name within windows is different than my bazzite computer name, and when I tried to run remote play from my phone using the Steam Link app, even though I was booted into bazzite, it would show my Windows computer name. Will conduct further testing.

So it seems possible that dual booting could have something to do with this bug, but only if you first boot into windows.

What did you expect to happen?

Open the Steam app and have it function correctly without freezing my screen / system.

I thought so, I think it’s related to dual booting, especially if you’ve been in windows recently. If I leave my computer off overnight and boot directly into bazzite, the freezing doesn’t happen. But as soon as I go into windows then back to bazzite, it happens.

Yes, that could be it. I didnt use windows for months but this week I had to and this issue appeared.

That sounds like the oddest bug ever. I can try shutting down and then booting into Bazzite instead of restarting from Windows to see if I can replicate it. I can't imagine you'd need to shut it down for more than 30 seconds

I agree it does sound weird, but for almost a week of staying in bazzite without once going to windows, I did not encounter the freezing. But the minute I went to windows then back to bazzite, there it was. I can’t say what it is about going into windows causes this, but seems related.
