[outreach] Asahi Linux (Apple Silicon) ecosystem engagement — bootc-installer-asahi is actively shipping #1373

Description

Outreach Opportunity

Type: ecosystem-partnership
Target: Asahi Linux community (asahilinux.org, r/AsahiLinux, Asahi Matrix/Discord) + Apple Silicon Linux users

TunaOS now has an actively-developed Apple Silicon install path: bootc-installer-asahi (commits as recent as 08-11, R2 payload upload wiring, recoveryOS handoff, golden-manifest verification harness). It is explicitly designed to be useful beyond TunaOS — "and anyone else's (Dakota, Bluefin, Bazzite)". Yet there is zero cross-promotion with the Asahi Linux community, which is the largest audience of Apple-Silicon Linux users on the internet.

Why Now

  • Installer repo shipped major milestones in the last 48h (08-11: CI R2 upload, D4 recoveryOS walkthrough docs) — momentum is at its peak for a launch announcement.
  • Asahi Linux is not in ADOPTERS.md (verified 08-12) — no outreach conflict.
  • Apple Silicon is the flagship Linux-on-ARM story in 2026; TunaOS supporting M1/M2 Macs alongside Asahi is a credible, differentiated angle (multi-variant bootc images, not just Asahi Fedora).
  • Follows the ARM/AArch64 push already tracked in the outreach backlog (fix(ci): install rclone reliably for installer screenshot publishing #1248 closed) — this is the concrete Apple Silicon layer on top.

Proposed Action

  1. Draft a blog post: "TunaOS on Apple Silicon — bootc images for M1/M2 Macs" (announce bootc-installer-asahi, link the GUI walkthrough, note the golden-manifest verification stance).
  2. Cross-post the announcement to r/AsahiLinux + Asahi Matrix (respect their promotion rules; ask maintainers first).
  3. Add Asahi Linux to ADOPTERS.md ecosystem table once the relationship is public (do NOT cold-claim — propose via issue first).
  4. Open a public 'testing on real hardware' call for the two hardware CI tiers documented in docs/ASAHI-HARDWARE-TIERS.md (funded Scaleway rental + volunteer's M1 Air).
