Editing config file with featherpad breaks game

Editing DefaultEngine.ini for Alice Madness Returns (UE3 game I think) with featherpad consistently causes the game to not launch.

It doesn't matter what setting I'm editing, if I make any changes to the file and save with featherpad it causes this issue.

Editiing the same file with nano instead does not cause any problems, game will launch fine

Does your nano config prevent a new line being added to the end when saving a file?

It would be kind of funny if the game breaks because of a new line in the end of the file but... I wouldn't be too surprised in this case.

it's not a new line at the end of file. i verified it by checking with nano before and after editing with featherpad, same line count. This is something more insidious than that.

There was already a blank line at the end of the file by default i think.

Not sure why this was turned into a discussion, this is quite clearly an issue with featherpad, a serious one. If it's breaking the unreal engine 3 games if u edit the config with it, what else will it break in the same way?
