From a script / non-interactive shell

When I run hear from a shell script outside the terminal (called by another app to run in bash w/o a terminal), or when I invoke via “do shell script” in AppleScript, it won’t work. It doesn’t run even if I background it. If I run the same shell script in a terminal, no problem. Is there any way to make this work?

This is some kind of permissions issue in nasty, ultra-locked-down macOS. Apple keeps changing how this works and I can't keep up. You're on your own.

best i could do in node was to launch a terminal window via applescript, write to a file, and watch the file in my node process:

Urgh — this is super frustrating. What’s really weird is that I have been able to have it listen for the exit word and correctly exit! — so the mic is clearly hot and it’s doing ... something

while the library is a good initiative, it might help trying one that uses the new mac os 26 transcription api directly: https://github.com/finnvoor/yap

@sveinbjornt I tried to get the output from hear into kitty terminal and it creates repetition.

maybe the main process calling it needs to end to make hear to finish typing? idk
