Please implement support for UnifiedPush, since I personally don't use Google services on my GrapheneOS phone and, as a result, don't receive notifications from your app... I would also appreciate it if you could add the option to download your app from the F-Droid repository, as was the case back in the Revolt days, or add APK files to the repository so that users can easily update via Obtainium or similar apps.

Signal is using Websocket, but drains the battery more than UPush. I think UPush is the way to go. ;)

For F-Droid, all dependencies to Google must be removed afaik. Maybe we need an F-Droid and a Google version then or someone must host an F-Droid repository.

I have let an AI implement that. I will not make a PR, since it is only an AI implementation. But maybe You are interested in it as a Reference.
