Snapping Stopped working suddenly

• This is a new bug that hasn't been documented in a closed issue or in the Readme.

macOS version: Tahoe 26.2 (but also in 25, i updated to see if that fixed it)
Rectangle version: 0.93
Logs if applicable (In Rectangle menu, hold option, "View Logging..."): No logs

Snapping just does not work anymore. Shortcuts do work.

Try this terminal command and restart the app:

defaults write com.knollsoft.Rectangle systemWideMouseDown -int 1

Do you know what else may have changed with your Mac when this started happening?

Same issue here, seems to be very hot and cold when it comes to working. Sometimes it works and sometimes its just not even there. System was auto updated from 26.1 to 26.2.

@jason-sr Did you try the Terminal command mentioned? I think there was a change in 26.2 that combined with something else running can cause this, but I'm not sure what the other factor is. I can't reproduce it myself.

I'm having the same issue - seems selective though. Most windows work, Microsoft Teams doesn't. It's not on the ignore list or anything.

If you're in the scenario where Teams is the only one that doesn't work, then try this instead:

defaults write com.knollsoft.Rectangle systemWideMouseDown -int 2

For scenarios where neither of the systemWideMouseDown settings work, try refreshing the Accessibility permissions:

1. Quit Rectangle
2. In System Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Accessibility, first disable Rectangle, then remove it with the minus button.
3. Reboot.
4. Launch Rectangle and enable settings for it as prompted.

It happened to me as well after the latest 26.2 beta update (public beta). Refreshing the accessibility permission fixed it.

its not just teams. for me it doesnt work on any app. throw works, but snap doesnt.

@pvinis did you try resetting the accessibility permissions for Rectangle Pro?

1. Quit Rectangle Pro
2. In System Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Accessibility, first disable Rectangle Pro, then remove it with the minus button.
3. Reboot.
4. Launch Rectangle Pro and enable settings for it as prompted.
