Project sprint: Guide to open safety models

Request for information that would be helpful:

• What should be in a policy? What is good policy?
• Out of the box classifiers are not customized to specific policies. How can you balance low costs and a customized classifier, or how should you think through that trade off?
• To what extent should we consider use cases outside of content moderation – especially moving into account level evaluation or broader definitions of safety (e.g. privacy, fraud, etc.)?

Latency/Performance Questions

• Latency performance depends on how you are running a model (e.g., inferencing through Groq will have different latency than running on your Mac)
• At Bluesky, used smaller frontier models to build out datasets, then used data to fine tune smaller Gemma models. Fine tuning was necessary for performance.
