marimo notebooks

Beyond simply adding a button to existing Jupyter notebooks (#809), I propose that we start supporting marimo explicitly, given their expanded use in data science and the recent addition to marimo features (i.e. progress bars) in PyMC. Not sure how easy they are to use in a Sphinx universe, nor am I even sure that they necessarily need to be in the same site or repo as Jupyter. This is mainly to get a discussion going and perhaps to draft a plan.

I assume that generating a gallery would involve some sort of WASM export in addition to the notebook itself.

It depends a bit on how you want to showcase "a gallery". Sphinx can ultimately also just show HTML right?

I was experimenting with a new marimo gallery on a personal repository a while back. It could serve as something that you could do here as well? It would omit Sphinx-features, but it could work?

Those "open in molab" buttons can be generated from a github URL generally. This page gives a demo on how to turn a link on Github into a link that molab can open for you.

PyMC does not work in WASM I think. The tensor library under the hood, is that compiled for wasm? I also think that you may not need WASM either, molab can just give you a free Python backend for demos too.

ps. We have one PyMC example on our new gallery and I certainly wouldn't mind hosting another one. Any fav demos I should consider?
