Why are *, and [ forbidden as indented_char?

Hi!
We're using project fluent to localize messages for a discord bot (using our own project fluent implementation implementation)

A big inconvenience for us is, that * is forbidden as a indented_char because we often do use it as a first line character due to discord's support for markdown in messages.

Actually, I can't find any reason why * and [ are forbidden as line starts. (. makes sense because of attributes)
What am I missing?

Yeah, but selectors are encapsulated by placeables ( { ... }), so using them in normal text at line start shouldn't be a problem, no?

It would add complexity, though, as doing so would require having two different Pattern rules. In this hypothetical syntax, . would also need its own separate handling as it can't show up at the line start.

If you do have multiline values that start with * or [, you'll need to escape them as literals: { "*" } or { "[" }.

Okay, so hypothetical a Pattern rule allowing * and [ could be used anywhere except in selector variants, right?
We're using them a lot on linestart (due to markdown) and I think a small fluent dialect is our only real choice here :D
