puase and play not working in home assistant in kayo app

Describe the bug

While using the Kayo App on apple TV (the sports streaming service in Australia) the play and pause commands don't work. There is also no feedback that anything is currently playing and the home assistant integration says the apple tv is idle.

It works fine in the windows application based on pyatv so I wonder if its is bug related to the home assistant implementation,

There are no logs of any errors while this happens

How to reproduce the bug?

start kayo using the apple tv remote then start watching a game. When the stream starts home assistant continues to report idle. When sending the pause command from home assistant nothing happens. If I actually send the play command while the stream is playing it will pause. Then neither the play nor the pause command will start it playing again.

As I said it will work properly from the windows program

What is expected behavior?

I expect that when starting to play a stream from Kayo the stream is reported back to home assistant and also i expect pause and play commands to function as they do normally to pause and unpause the stream

I am also seeing this with atvremote and calling pyatv from within python scripts , the issue appears to be the Kayosports app does not "inform" tvos of it's playing state . When in pause mode which it does automatically when skipping forward / backwards , hitting play , play_pause , Pause actually executes in my case the Apple Music App and starts playing music . Interestingly using the Apple Remote via an Ipad play/pause works . I have tried with Companion Protocol , Airplay(MRP) and both have the same issues on Apple TV 4k gen2 and Gen 3 - TVOS 26.3 . Question how is the Apple Remote from within IOS working , is this using a different protocol than available on pyatv ?

Looks like the new version of the Kayo app has exposed the right settings and controls and now it's working
