What was your highlight from last year

Our club received the Student Organization of the Year Award from our school! Being that the club was barely more than a year old, we have worked really hard to establish presence not only as new club but also as a support system for the new Computer Science major at Occidental College.

What is/are the project(s) your Club worked on

• Digital Dictionary for Endangered Language, Bhutia
• Tiger Planner (customizable planner for Occidental courses)

What was the most challenging issue that your Club had to deal with

Decrease of overall participation/involvement at workshops, projects, and weekly workspace throughout the year. Although we have high amount of interest in the beginning of the school year, we have trouble retaining members due to busy schedules and maybe poor advertising?

As the Club's leadership, what would be something that you would like to stop doing?

Communicating ineffectively with members and leadership team. Emily: As president of this club for a year, I realized that good communication is a two-way street. Both parties need to be engaged. Somewhere along the lines, communication is being cut off. Members say that they are unaware of events even though we advertise everywhere. Cases like that are unfortunate for both parties, and I would like to stop it.

As the Club's leadership, what would be something that you would like to start doing?

Uphold accountability. Success of a group comes from successful leadership. Our club has grown to have more officer positions, which can be a double edged sword. Without accountability, our club’s leadership influence render ineffective.

As the Club's leadership, what would be something that you would like to continue doing?

Being consistent with our resources and events. Despite the low number of turnout, we still offer weekly workspace and consistent workshops. We are constantly planning for the next event, which is a great way of keeping our club alive and active.
