Call function passing current row as param

Some databaes let us create function that is called within a select passing the current row. I have tried to create this function

myLinkName(linkReference) {
    return linkReference.name
}

so the query bellow return null from the function

 select linkReference.name as name, myLinkName(linkReference) as linkName from account

name	linkName
Calebe

where linkReference is a LINK field to other vertex/table. Would be great that the parameter passed thought the function could create a context to bring linked fields and the result goes like this:

name	linkName
Calebe	Calebe
