Feature Request: Forum-Style Text Channels

Introduce a new type of text channel that works in a forum-style format, where each message creates its own discussion thread instead of all messages being part of a single continuous chat.

Problem

Currently, text channels follow a linear conversation model, which can become cluttered and hard to follow when multiple discussions happen at the same time. This is especially noticeable in channels used for:

• support
• bug reports
• feature suggestions

Important conversations can easily get lost, and it becomes difficult to track individual topics.

Proposed Solution

Add a forum-style channel type where:

• Users create posts (topics) instead of sending messages directly into the channel
• Each post becomes its own thread with replies contained inside
• The main channel view displays a list of topics instead of messages

Core Features

• Create new topic (title + content)
• Threaded replies per topic
• Topic list view (instead of chat feed)
• Optional tags (e.g. bug, question, idea)
• Sorting options (recent activity, newest, most replies)

Optional Enhancements

• Pin important topics
• Mark topics as resolved/closed
• Search within the forum channel
• Basic moderation tools (lock, delete, etc.)

Benefits

• Improved organization and readability
• Better suited for structured discussions
• Reduces noise in support and feedback channels
• Makes it easier to track and revisit specific topics

Additional Context

I also created a simple mockup to help visualize the idea. It’s just an early sketch and not a final design, but it shows roughly how this kind of channel could look and function within the platform.
