AI-deck - gap_sdk autotiler unavailable – workarounds & updates

We’re aware that the GreenWaves Technologies website is currently down, which means the required autotiler file for gap_sdk cannot be downloaded. This file is necessary for compiling the autotiler.

As a result, you can no longer deploy neural networks through gap_sdk or our Docker image bitcraze/aideck, unless you already have the file. This also means that our examples that rely on the autotiler will not work.

However, you can still deploy neural networks using DORY, which has been widely used in research for deploying models to GAP8 and the AI-Deck.

If you don’t need to deploy neural networks, you can skip installing the autotiler, as it is only required for tiling operations.

We are actively working on a fix and will update this post as soon as we have more information. If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out.

i have read that the examples for the aideck gap8 won’t work due to the autotiler not being available, there is a link to use Dory, is there going to be a tutorial on how to use it.

We're currently exploring alternatives like dory to replace the missing autotiler functionality, but this will take a bit of time. In the meantime, you can try out the examples in the dory_examples repository. We'll share a proper tutorial once we’ve settled on a reliable solution.

Hello, I'm creating a DORY environment, and when I run the build Docker command, it gets stuck in the virtual machine. I want to know if this is normal.

Could you please tell me where I can download the GAP8 bootloader? I tried running the Docker command but got no response. Is it because this website is down that I can't download the bootloader?

The missing autotiler that is discussed above in this thread might be the issue.
Or are you minssing the actual gap8 bootloader you are missing you could download it here; https://github.com/bitcraze/aideck-gap8-bootloader. This is only our second stage bootloader.

Could you send the failure logs, since this will give us a better understanding of what is the issue?

Any update on the GAP SDK autotiler situation?

I’ve been actively trying to migrate to DORY as suggested, but in practice it’s currently very difficult to use on the AI-Deck. Even with a minimal CNN, the pipeline frequently breaks due to unsupported ONNX ops (e.g. ReduceMean, Relu), missing or undocumented config fields (BNRelu_bits, code reserved space), and tiling/runtime errors during network_generate.py.

At the moment, DORY does not feel like a drop-in or beginner-friendly replacement for the autotiler, especially for new AI-Deck users. A reference configuration, minimal working example, or official tutorial for deploying a simple CNN with DORY on GAP8 would help a lot.

Is there any ETA on:
restoring access to the autotiler (or an official mirror), or
publishing a supported DORY workflow specifically for the AI-Deck?

Even a short outline of what you did after downloading the file would help a lot, since many of us are currently blocked at the autotiler stage.

I am still working on this myself so I'll update as I go along. I was trying to run make sdk in the gap_sdk and it was asking for me to provide a URL or register. Since registration is broken, I just put https://gwt-website-files.s3.eu-central-1.amazonaws.com/ as the URL and it downloaded successfully.

I have not yet tried anything with the AutoTiler however

We're focusing our efforts on the DORY solution rather than the autotiler. We are working on examples to use nanocockpit with DORY for neural network deployment.
