Convert currently open project to cloud project automatically syncs, the docs say differently

It states:
Project files will only be uploaded when you click the synchronize button. Make sure the selected contains no more than one QGIS project file.

This is not true.
I used the option "Convert currently open project to cloud project" , it then showed to progress bars and it immediately synchronized the project and QGIS gave me this message:

Is this a setting? Has the process changed?

This happened to me with QGIS 3.40.12 on Windows and QField Sync plugin version 4.17.3
