Won't run throught script?

Running mpd-mpris in terminal works as intended, however when i try to run it from a script it returns dial unix /run/user/1003/mpd/socket: connect: connection refused . Won't work even with port and host specified. Any ideas as to why?

Could it be that you are running mpd-mpris as a different user from mpd itself?

tried setting $USER and $USERNAME before running but still no, running from the same terminal as normal mpd-mpris too
