dependency issues in debian

A debian package maintainer pointed out these issues when trying to package moin2 for debian:

0. flatland supposedly relies on nose, is there a way to remove this requirement or somehow use nose2? or what seems is everyone else did is move to pytest

   I have a few others that seem higher versions in debian. Is there a way we can swap the high version in the requirements. See below to confirm I'm doing the name matching right.

1. "XStatic-CKEditor >= 3.6.1.2, <= 3.6.4.0", but Debian stable has

Ad 0: solved soon, see #2114.

Ad 1: ckeditor is somehow optional, can be switched off in moin configuration.

Ad 2: is within the requirements, no problem.

Everything else needs testing.

I can assist with xstatic packaging, but not with javascript/html/css development.

Can you please explain why it is of relevance what debian offers as system package, when Moin2 can use XStatic packages (provided they are not too old)?

@roland-ruedenauer the xstatic packages we use are just an offer (and they avoid that we must bundle other project's code into moin releases, which would cause misc. maintenance issues).

if a dist (like debian) already has other packages providing these files, they could also use these (if they arrange / patch stuff so that it works in the end). or they take the xstatic packages and repackage them for their dist.

I don't know how they collaborate at debian, but I replied to the guy who asked me via email about this with a link to this ticket.

About xstatic 1.0.0: it was long blocked by the lost repo of moin-svgedit. Now we have a new repo, but the code there is not in a maintainable state (IMHO).

I might ignore that though and release xstatic 1.0.0 + all the updated packages when I have a big chunk of time and motivation. ;-)

I'm not sure how to test xstatic-pygments. I only found one place where a Pygments stylesheet is used in Moin.

src/moin/templates/base.html:

<link media="all" rel="stylesheet" href="{{ url_for('serve.files', name='pygments', filename='css/colorful.css') }}">

It is used for highlighting code blocks like in 'help-en/OtherTextItems'.

If this is the only use, we can simply copy this CSS file to static/css without having to maintain an xstatic package. We need the original Pygments package anyway.

Did I miss something?

It's not only 1 CSS file, but a whole bunch of "themed" css files.

In the case of Moin, we only seem to make use of just one of they many pygments css files.
