Changelog / stable branch policy? #1648

👋 Seems to be some inconsistencies in the change logs? master (😬) lists yesterdays (🎉) release as unreleased, but also links through to the changelog for 2-8-stable where 2.8.1 is also listed as unreleased (released 03/02/2023). Meanwhile it seems there is a change in the stable branch name to 2-9-release were again 2.9.0 is listed as unreleased.
It's obviously not super important but it is a bit inconsistent and the change logs that dependabot ships include this information (presumably because the version of the package also shows "unreleased")..
