After uploading the firmware to the board and reset it the i2C stops workign.
I have the feeling the bootloader could be wrong here as the board works fine if I upload the sample firmware.

You can 1. press Button A and reset to enter configuration mode.
2. press Button B and reset to enter AP mode.
