Proposed roadmap for local/push notification and badge features

This is our proposed roadmap for addressing local toast notifications, push notifications, and badge notifications. Everything here is subject to change and not final, the dates are purely estimates and in no way accurate, however we appreciate any and all feedback! If the priorities of these seem wrong to you, please let us know!

TL;DR is we're planning on doing the following in this order...

1. Shipping local toast notifications via Windows Community Toolkit version 7.0 (nearly complete)
2. Then prioritizing push notifications within Reunion itself
3. Then prioritizing local badge notifications within Reunion (or maybe Toolkit)
4. Then prioritizing bringing our local toast notification code from the Toolkit into Reunion

• Maybe December 2020 - Experience shipped through Windows Community Toolkit version 7.0 (via updates to our existing Notifications library). Preview is already available! See Proposal: Converged and simplified toast notifications API across Win32 and UWP #137.
• 2021-2022 - Experience shipped through Reunion itself?
  • We're making push an earlier priority, since we can address local notifications through the Community Toolkit to solve immediate problems.
