Disappearance of capital letters and special characters

Hey Mark,

I am new to Node.js so please pardon me if I ask any basic questions.
I have tried to run the codes for a Newland HID POS/Rakinda RD4600 QR code scanner (which also doubles as a barcode scanner).
The special characters (!,@,#, and, etc) and capital letters do not appear or are missing i.e. not decoded and read, which leads to an empty array being entered/missing letters.
May I know where you obtained your USB HID key mapping list from?

Hi Shannon, I assume it's settings on the device itself. It converts or supports specific chars. Try to get manual with setup codes to set it up. Can you provide me with QR or Barcode u are trying to scan and I will try it with my device here.
I can't remember how did I get the list of chars. Could be that your device is sending different shifted encoded chars.

Look at the code line 127, it's waiting for ENTER key to be pressed after every character. Try changing the settings for your device (using barcode settings codes).

Hey Mark,

I forgot to update you before you responded.

1. I found the USB HID key mapping list via this.

2. Additionally, I also discovered why the capital letters and special characters were not shown via printing the buffer stream: console.log(dataBuf);. I counted the number of digits for the buffer stream data and realised that the polling endpoint had to be altered after re-reading the READ.ME portion so it finally worked afterwards.
