Help please - How to use the weather forecast

Hello,
Despite the instructions in the yaml, I can't figure out how to get the forecast to work.
In the generated YAML code I see this instruction (I'm just showing the first few lines here):

So I've tried pasting the block (without the comments) into my configuration.yaml file (see attached)

and now I see this when I restart Homeassistant:

Also, in this section to be added, do I need to replace every instance of weather.forecast_home in this block or just the first two where the instruction says "Replace with your weather entity"?

I've worked out how to get the template sensors into my configuration.yaml now but I still have no idea how to make the weather forecast work!

I've tried replacing weather.forecast_home in just the trigger and action sections and then tried also replacing it for all the sensors but nothing seems to work!

The preview in the designer shows a lot of temperatures for a town that is not mine but my device shows a cloudy icon and no temperatures for each day.

Any pointers please?

I used the default weather.forecast_home, just changing C to F. See attached configuration.yaml.

Thanks for your help. I hadn't been able to get this working using the defaults but now I've followed your suggestion and put it all back to the defaults and now it's all working! Not sure what I was doing wrong but happy to see it now working.

I could do with some help with this if anyone's got any insight - the templates are all set up (I'm using Met.no as I presume everyone is) and the data just doesn't come in. No errors in HAs logs - just unkown entities in dev tools.

entity_id of the weather integration is weather.home and the template is up to date with that entity ID.

Any pointers/things I can do to debug? Different weather integration?

Update. I got this working. Here's some tips if you're struggling to get this working.

From HA go to developer tools > Actions and switch to Yaml mode.

Paste this in:

action: weather.get_forecasts

and "perform action" it. If you get no data, then your entity_id is wrong. Change it there until you get data back (mine is weather.home and I'm using the Meteorologisk institutt (Met.no) weather integration)

Now that you KNOW your entity ID is correct, head into the template in configuration.yaml.

Here's mine with the first day entities - you can create the rest by changing the dictionary from a 0 to a 1,2,3,4 etc.

things to note that are different in here:

• I also trigger on home assistant startup otherwise you've got to wait for an hour for the triggers to happen
• The sensors also look up the entity name in the dictionary so for every day you've got to have your entity names correct
• I've also removed the null/or checks with default values. I don't know if that was throwing it or not but not having them causes me no issues. YMMV. I tried to simplify the template as much as possible to help debugging

Do that. Full HA restart and it should work. At least it did for me.

Wow, thank you for this, really helpful. Now I can see why some of my attempts to get this working failed.

I have now used your tests and realised that I have two weather integrations that work but they bring with them a few sensors which I had been trying by mistake.

As you can see from the image above (I pasted them side by side into a spreadsheet and have only shown the first day of 7 here) the one integration provides quite a bit more data.

I'm particularly keen to be able to display the percentage probability of precipitation because it rains rather a lot here!

So just need to wait till the forecast widget is fixed again (broken in the testing branch Pre_0.9b205 at the moment).
