Feature Description

Problem
I hate Facebook. I'm only still on it to give stuff away through two hyperlocal mutual aid groups in my town — Buy Nothing and Everything is Free — and even then, I let gives pile up in my house and do batch posts maybe 4x a year to minimize time on the platform. I'd like to get things through these groups too ("buy less, if not nothing!"), but the culture requires constant vigilance: "GIVE" posts are claimed within minutes, "ISO" posts need drafting and monitoring, and coordination moves to Messenger DMs. I refuse to install any Meta app or sit watching a browser tab. So I give (rarely), and I never receive.

What I Want
An agent that monitors both groups and acts as my proxy. It should:

  • Watch both groups continuously.
  • Reference an evolving wishlist I can add to casually.
  • Claim matching "GIVE" posts fast, using group convention (interested, interested can pick up [when]).
  • Handle Messenger end-to-end — accept DM requests, read, and reply.
  • Weigh location against item value when deciding whether to engage (some neighborhoods are worth the drive, some aren't).
  • Loop me in for pickup timing and other judgment calls.
  • Share item images with me in-thread so I can make quick calls.
  • I want to talk to the agent through WhatsApp, Signal, or iMessage.

Guardrails

  • Never posts outside these two groups (or future ones I enable).
  • Stays on-topic, not terse but not AI-sloppy in DMs.
  • Is polite and kind. It's representing me in my actual community.

Human-in-the-Loop
Full autonomy isn't the goal yet. The agent needs my input for pickup timing and judgment calls. Calibrating what it handles solo vs. what needs sign-off is a WIP.

Future / Maybe

  • Draft and post my own ISO and GIVE posts, then triage responses.
  • Extend to Facebook Marketplace.
  • Extend to other parent or town groups to augment my search for hyperlocal information, passively or via post. What kids camps to folks like. Recommendations for an electrician, etc.
