[Feature] 7 Total Mood Levels #475

One of the big flaws with journaling applications like this is the 5-mood tracking that exists. Because of this, theres no real way to track truly over the top moments that defy normal convention. In my own software I had started building, my solution to this was a "Mood Intensity" 'slider' that would let you associate each moment's Mood with an Intensity. Example:

  • I go out and eat dinner with friends and have an amazing time. Amazing + Mild intensity
  • I win the lottery: Amazing + High Intensity
  • I have a long, draining day at work and get in a fender bender on the way home: Awful + Mild Intensity
  • My pet dies: Awful + High Intensity

Im not proposing that as the right solution, but instead the solution I tried to build to differentiate between a "bad day" and "a worst day of my life".

However, by using a scale of only 5 to track moods in Journiv, you are limiting most people to tracking moods within a range of 2-4 as the 1 and 5 moods should be preserved for truly horrible days.

An expansion of the range up to 7 'moods' to track would allow you to 'endcap' the traditional 5* rating system with a "Literal worst day of my life" and "literal best day of my life" tracking for moments, and also allows you to build "protections" in to the 'memory surfacing' feature by default that will never re-surface/remind you of a truly bad day (unless that setting is enabled)
