System Info:
Distro: CachyOS
Kernel (broken): linux-cachyos 7.1.6-1-cachyos
Kernel (working, used as workaround): linux-cachyos-lts 6.18.42-1-cachyos-lts
GPU: Hybrid AMD/NVIDIA — AMD Radeon 660M (iGPU, amdgpu, driving internal eDP-1 panel) + NVIDIA RTX 3050 (dGPU, nvidia-open 610.57.04)
Hyprland: 0.56.2
aquamarine: 0.14.0-2
Description:
After updating to kernel 7.1.6, Hyprland fails to display anything when starting through SDDM: the screen stays black and the cursor is unresponsive. The hyprland.log shows:
DEBUG from aquamarine ]: drm: Modesetting eDP-1 with 3072x1728@60.00Hz
ERR from aquamarine ]: drm: Cannot commit when a page-flip is awaiting
ERR from aquamarine ]: drm: Cannot commit when a page-flip is awaiting
After this, the session becomes unresponsive — input (keyboard/mouse) is not processed, keybinds don't work.
Workaround:
AQ_NO_ATOMIC=1 partially helps but does not fully resolve the issue on kernel 7.1.6.
On linux-cachyos-lts (6.18.42) the issue does not occur at all — Hyprland starts normally through SDDM with no environment variables needed.
Reproducibility: 100% on kernel 7.1.6, every time when logging in via SDDM. Launching Hyprland directly from a clean TTY (without SDDM) shows identical behavior — modesetting still fails the same way.
