To Reproduce

Install latest version of plugin, add SmartHQ user name and password

Expected behavior

After providing SmartHQ user name and password, plugin should discover GE Profile ClearView for HomeKit integration

After some internal investigation, I was able to identify the root cause of this issue.

The failure was not due to SmartHQ availability or credentials, but rather an overly aggressive 3500 ms timeout during the OpenID discovery / access-token flow. In my environment, DNS resolution inside the Homebridge Docker container could intermittently exceed this threshold due to slow or non-functional IPv6 DNS resolvers inherited from the host.

By overriding the container’s DNS to fast IPv4 resolvers (Cloudflare / Google) and avoiding IPv6 DNS, lookup times dropped from ~5 s to <100 ms, and the plugin immediately began working reliably.

This suggests the current timeout is too strict for real-world DNS conditions. It would be very helpful to either:

• increase the default timeout, or
• make the timeout user-configurable

to better support environments with slower or mixed DNS setups (especially Docker + IPv6).
