Describe the bug
When using companion app using music assistant to control a player queue it takes over audio from navigation (like you’re on a phone call and you just get hero’s instead of voice commands.

Navigation should override companion app using music/ companion app should not be an audio source.

Please elaborate a bit more, you have a navigation app running, but the Home Assistant app does not let the navigation app play sound?
How do you interact with Music Assistant? Using you phone? Home Assistant app does not have Music Assistant controls.

Using the companion app and going to Music Assistant app and controlling a player. Audio takes over. It also happens to stop music if I’m on music assistant player screen and start playback on a group. As soon as I go to another app it stops music playing because the phone thinks it is audio controller playing something or something else.

Bottom line, iOS sees the music assistant player control screen as an audio source.
