Feature Request: Profile photo from any position on the list

Now the first photo becomes the profile photo.
I would like to be able to manually sort photos by age or other style and have the profile photo be marked, not just put to the first position.
It could work as it is now. If no photo picture is marked or profile photo become delete then first photo become profile photo.

While I understand your request from a user perspective, I don't think this is something we can change because this is what Gramps desktop does, and I think it should remain consistent. There is also no good place I am aware of in the Gramps data model where this information could be stored.

I don't plan on using the desktop version, but maybe they'll like this feature too. Even if they don't need it, this information could be stored in another database table.

If you're suggesting to add a dedicated database table for adding things that will only be displayed on Gramps Web: that violates one of the main design principles of Gramps Web, namely that all information should be stored in the genealogical database and exportable via Gramps XML. So we'll have to work within the constraints of the Gramps data model.

But perhaps we should mentally separate data structure and user interface here. In principle, the first element of the media reference list could be singled out more explicitly in the user interface, such as

• showing the image separately or bigger from the other images
• adding a button that makes an arbitrary image the first (profile image) rather than having to click the left arrow many times (which I know is super annoying)
