BAL/DLA identification in EDR

How reliable are BAL/DLA identification in the EDR? I deployed SpenderQ on the EDR and the reconstructions look good but I'm noticing BAL and DLAs (see examples below). This isn't a problem but I want to make sure this is expected.

For reference, I'm using quasar spectra from the catalog:
