@magicprinc Thanks for reporting, can you please:

1. Try this with JDK 8 and not JDK 25 and see if you get the same crash
2. From RocksDB Java 10.5.1 we now build on Windows Server 2022 with Visual Studio 2022 (previously we used Windows Server 2012 and Visual Studio 2017). Can you please tell me which version of the Microsoft C++ runtime (msvcp140.dll) you have installed on your system? When building we are using Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x64) 14.44.35211.0.
3. Can you please try and run the RockJNI samples from here by running mvn clean package (with JDK 8), and see if you get the same crash.

@adamretter Try building with the preprocessor define _DISABLE_CONSTEXPR_MUTEX_CONSTRUCTOR : https://stackoverflow.com/questions/78598141/first-stdmutexlock-crashes-in-application-built-with-latest-visual-studio I remember this happened to me also when I switched to VS 2022. The Dll was running fine on Java 8 / Java 11 but crashed on Java 17 / Java 21. The 10.5.1 build from Maven Central crashes for me also on Java 21, but my own build of it with the _DISABLE_CONSTEXPR_MUTEX_CONSTRUCTOR define works fine.

It is really painful to downgrade to such old version as 11.

Sure. Once I saw the msvcp140.dll in the hs_err_pid.log I was pretty sure it is the same problem that hit me in July 2024 when i was building 9.3.1 with VS 2022.
