Light example should work as a proper RGB LED in Apple Home (CON-1875)

Is there a good reason for the light example not exposing all the RGB LED capabilities when added to Apple Home?

I think the light example should be properly configured to appear as a light with full RGB capabilities from Apple Home.

@olavt what discrepancies do you see, better share more insights than just a subject, what are your expectations against the behaviour.

Also, share the commit ids as you have done before to see if what you are stating is an issue on a particular revision or everywhere. This would help to bisect.

examples/light is a fully Matter Certifiable Extended Color Light (Matter Device Type ID: 0x010D).

I'd like to see when you add examples/light in your Apple Home, how does it look like. Assuming that the above is your expected behaviour.

And commit id is always and definitely relevant, it may not have changed for you, but I don't have a clue what was your older one. So, sharing these details would help debug issues faster with less communications.

It shows up as a light where I can set the basic color temperatures and not control the full RGB settings.

This is the issue with the light example code:

@olavt I beg to differ here. Every ecosystem has their ways to showcase how light shows-up in their UI. examples/light implements the Extended Color Light device type per the Matter Device Type Specification.

The color_mode and enhanced_color_mode attributes represent the current operating mode of the light, not the supported capabilities. Setting them to ColorTemperature at startup just means the light starts in color temperature mode — all color modes are still available and supported.

However you can modify the code per your requirements and keep using it with the desired ecosystem.

Closing the issue as examples/light is working as expected.
