Display data sizes on the front-end using the decimal system

Over the past year the front-end switched to displaying data sizes using the binary system. And the DANDI Client still reports sizes in the decimal system.

I would suggest that we switch back to using the decimal system on the front-end which is more commonly used in day to day life. Thanks.

i don't see a nomenclature change to TiB. perhaps it would be good to find the commit where this change happened.

Might be similar to the classic 'Windows' issue (default Windows filesystem reports text of sizes as decimal but in actuality is binary - extremely annoying!). That is, it might be unintentionally inaccurate.

The bytes are converted to strings using the filesize.js module. For example, here.

We use the IEC standard with base 10. However in the filesize source code, the IEC and JEDEC standards use the binary system: https://github.com/avoidwork/filesize.js/blob/0a79afd4d19f6594a15accda06e8d845683b2095/src/helpers.js#L20-L24

Its hard to track down when this change happened in the filesize repo given the obscure pull request titles, but its likely that the convention changed upstream in the filesize repo.

So asset text on DLP's seem accurate and consistent to me, but the confusion is perhaps why that line you cited (which I am unsure it the 'true' source line in the archive side providing all this) indicates it ought to be base-10 but none of the text is

And the broader request being to restore the old behavior of reporting values and unit text in B rather than iB?
