Handlers should have a configurable timeout

The reactor should only give handlers so much time (configurable) to handle a result.

Hmm - need some more thought on this. In the case that a handler fails should the result not get deleted? In the case that there are multiple handlers, if some succeed and some timeout, what do we do then?
