Prerolls based on movie genre?

Prerolls based on movie genre? It can be usefull if we can play a preroll based on the "genre" of the movie.

Ex: on action movie I can play action themed-based prerolls. Romances movies same thing etc.

I suppose that it's possible to retrieve the type of the currently played movie en adjust the preroll at this time?

This was requested a few times on Reddit, and unfortunately this is just not possible.

Plex doesn't send out any information about the movie, whether through webhook, websocket, or through an API query until the movie starts playing. Since the prerolls plays before the movie, it's before any information is known about the movie.

I know you're thinking, "but I'm selecting the movie from the menu and that's before trailers and prerolls play!". While that's true, Plex doesn't supply movie information to external sources like 3rd party apps at that point....only when the actual movie starts or is playing.

Believe me, if I could have implemented this feature I would have long ago. I've had discussions with other 3rd party app developers and we've all come to the same conclusion.
