not sure if this can already be done or is in the works already but it would be cool to like view a list of things that are up for grabs or bounty. It's a one time chore that never comes back but users can see how many points it will give them and pick up the bounty, and now it appears as theirs.

Proposed solution

The idea is like this:

Bounties

• Fix shingle on roof [100 points] [Add to Chores]
• fix bumper on car [1000 points] [Add to Chores]
• install new laundry tub [250 points] [Add to Chores]

this is different from things you know will reoccur, ie change winter tires, or wash windows, vacuum, etc

Hey @Async777 — I am absolutely open to contributions! I would love to get some different involved, so feel free to take a run at it. Definitely let me know or open a discussion if you run into any questions navigating the backend.

In the interim, for anyone looking to do this today, you can actually build a semi functional "Bounty" system using the existing Periodic Badges engine as a workaround.

It might sound a little indirect at first, but it is actually very straightforward once you see it in the UI. Basically, you are just using a one-time badge as the vehicle to monitor the chore and trigger a special payout.

Here is how to set up a Bounty:

1. Create the Chore: Make a standard chore for the task you want done (e.g., "Fix the loose roof shingle").
2. Create the Bounty (Badge): Create a new Periodic Badge and name it something like "Roof Repair Bounty". Make it a one-time badge (no recurrence), with or without a due date
3. Link them up: In the badge settings, select only that specific roof chore as the tracked chore, and set the completion criteria to simply 1.
4. Add the Payout: Attach your massive bounty reward directly to that badge.

Once the chore is finished, the system will instantly award the badge and pay out the bounty!

Tip: To keep things tidy, once the bounty is claimed, you can delete the chore and badage as well use the choreops.remove_badge service to clear it out so you don't have a bunch of one-off bounties cluttering up the user's earned badge history forever.

Sorry it took me a few days to reply! This works and I can totally do it this way, but picking up a side quest from a list seems a little more family friendly, and straightforward. I really appreciate the work around and quick reply. Again awesome app! I'm a DBA in my career, let me know if I can help contribute!
