Item not inserted in cart if the cart portlet is not present

When clicking on the add button in the detail page of a product it is not added to the cart (and the corresponding cookie is not created) if the portlet with orders is not present in that page. in this case the add buttos has no effect.

Have you skipped the cart viewlet? The viewlet is written that it displays only if there is no cart portlet present. Enabling the cart viewlet in your details page might fix your problem. Anyway, there should be a fix that items can be added to cart if it's not rendered.
